What to Expect When Visiting Your Dentist Twice a Year

Posted .

Are you about to visit your dentist for a six-month checkup? If so, our Lifetime Dentistry dental team would be happy to help you prepare for your appointment. That way you will feel as calm and comfortable in the dental chair as possible. To help you prepare, we would like to explain the process of your appointment.

At the beginning of your treatment, your hygienist will deeply clean your chompers with special tools and techniques that remove the dangerous substances from the surfaces of your smile, like plaque and tartar. This is a beneficial treatment because it reduces your chances of falling victim to tooth decay and gum disease. Next, they will check your teeth and gums and look for any signs of trouble. Then, they will floss the nooks and crannies of your smile and will remove any plaque and food particles that live there. Finally, they will polish your teeth with a polishing treatment that will remove the surface stains off of your smile.

To conclude your appointment, your dentist will examine your smile and assess the health and strength of your teeth and gums. During this examination, Dr. Holly Krystek will also inspect your mouth for signs of oral cancer. If she finds any trouble areas or any problems, she will provide the necessary tips or explain your treatment options for repairing your smile.
